EXCLUSIVE: Indie studio Media Res (The Morning Show, Pachinko) has promoted Christina Malach to President of Scripted Series. Reporting to CEO and founder Michael Ellenberg, she will oversee the studio’s current and upcoming slate. Malach replaces Lindsey Springer who is stepping down after six years as President of Scripted. She will continue to produce with the company.
Since joining Media Res in 2023 as SVP Development, Malach has overseen development of the recently ordered Netflix series Enigma Variations from AK Shuman starring Aaron Taylor Johnon as well as The Miniature Wife starring Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen, which recently premiered on Peacock.
“Christina’s been an incredible member of the Media Res team, bringing her exceptional taste, expertise, passion, and soulful connection with talent and material to bear on all of the projects she oversees,” Ellenberg said. “We are excited to see her step into this role leading the creative group and shepherding the next generation of Media Res series.”
Previously, Malach served as a senior development executive at Amazon Studios where she oversaw such series as The Terminal List, A Very British Scandal, The English and The Wilds. Prior to that, she served as VP for David Heyman’s Heyday Television and began her career in publishing in New York as an Editor-at-Large at Random House.
“Media Res has always been a home for ambitious storytelling, made by world class artists in collaboration with the very best platforms,” Malach said. “It’s an honor to step into this role and continue to push the boundaries of creative possibility for audiences worldwide. “
During Springer’s tenure at Media Res, which began in 2020, she shepherded such series as Pachinko, I’m a Virgo, Extrapolations and The Miniature Wife.
“We are incredibly grateful to Lindsey for her remarkable tenure here, leading the team through a dynamic period of productivity and growth,” Ellenberg said. “She will be missed greatly, but we are also excited for her next chapter. We look forward to collaborating with her on future projects.”
In addition to The Miniature Wife and Enigma Variations, Media Res’s current and upcoming slate includes the fifth season of Apple TV’s The Morning Show with cast additions Jeff Daniels, Renee Rapp, Jesse Williams and Sean Hayes, new series The Chain at HBO and The Dealer at Apple TV, and the Hulu pilot Durango.
