Brown University gunman is ‘extremely angry’ loner who wanted to kill — but not die, criminal profiler says
The gunman who shot up a Brown University classroom was likely an “extremely angry” loner who was terrified of getting caught and didn’t want to die, a criminal profiler suspects.
“He took great pains to scope out the area and secure an escape route. Why? Because he’s scared of getting caught,” profiler John Kelly told Fox News.
“So it looks like a cause he’s not willing to die for, but a cause he’s extremely angry over,” Kelly added.
The gunman is still on the loose after he fired 40 rounds from a handgun into a classroom at the Rhode Island Ivy League school on Saturday afternoon, killing two students and wounding nine others.
Videos of a person of interest show a stocky man in a mask canvassing a tree-lined neighborhood surrounding Brown in the hours leading up to the shooting.
“I believe he’s probably a loner who expresses [his anger] in the confines of a private place online,” Kelly told the outlet.
Kelly added that the shooter is likely obsessed with media coverage of the dayslong manhunt for him.
“He’s watching everything he can about himself on the news. All these guys have a certain amount of paranoia, I believe this guy is no different. He wants to kill kids but he’s scared of doing the time for it.”
