Austin Police seek help identifying suspect involved in baseball bat assault

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is seeking public help to identify a man accused of assaulting a person with a baseball bat in June.

Austin Police said the incident occurred on June 1 around 3 a.m. in the 300 block of Colorado Street. 

The department said the victim picked up a crown from the ground, which provoked the suspect who then assaulted the victim with the bat. 

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 30s, has short black hair and a mustache, police said. Images of the suspect are provided by APD below.

Anyone with information about this incident or knows the identity of the suspect can submit a tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimstoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. 

A reward up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
