Austin Police investigate southeast Austin homicide


AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said it began a homicide investigation Sunday morning following an urgent 911 call in southeast Austin.

According to APD, officers responded to a high-priority call at approximately 6:40 a.m. in the 5700 block of Hammermill Run, which is near E Stassney Lane and S Pleasant Valley Road.

An APD public information officer said officers found a Hispanic man with “obvious trauma” to the body. Responders attempted life-saving measures at the scene; however, the victim was pronounced dead at 7:08 a.m.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 24th homicide of 2025.
