‘The Countess Of Monte Cristo’ With Audrey Fleurot Begins Filming For TF1 & Netflix

Eight-part mini-series The Countess of Monte Cristo, starring and produced by HPI star Audrey Fleurot. has begun filming.

The feminist reimaging of Alexandre Dumas’s classic was first announced by Fleurot last September as she prepared to move on from her role of Morgane Alvaro in hit show HPI, which shot its fifth and final show at the end of 2024.

Fleurot is joined in the cast by Simon Ehrlacher, Zabou Breitman, Kad Merad, Thierry Godard, Éric Elmosnino and Olivia Côte.

Set in Marseille in 1815, the show stars Fleurot as Mercédès Herrera, a heroine ready to do anything for the man she loves, Edmond Dantès, a sailor with a bright future ahead of him.

When he is imprisoned on the basis of false testimony, with no hope of release, the intrepid Mercédès tries to break him out of jail. Edmond is killed during their escape attempt and she herself finds herself imprisoned.

Her new mission will be to take revenge on those who destroyed her life: Fernand, her own cousin, who is secretly in love with her; Danglars, an ambitious manipulator; and above all Héloïse de Villefort, the implacable wife of the town prosecutor.

The series is being directed by Djibril Glissant and Leonardo D’Antoni, with shooting taking place in Malta and the Czech Republic.

Audrey Fleurot is co-producing under the banner of Bahia Blanca, the production company she founded with her partner Glissant, alongside Itinéraire Productions, the production house behind HPI.

TF1 is backing the series in association with Netflix.

“This is what will allow me to turn the page on HPI without grieving too much, because I’m opening another one where I’m also a producer. I’ve really followed the project from A to Z, I’m very involved, it’s really my baby. I’m excited and it scares me too. But at least if it’s not good, I’ll only have myself to blame,” TF1 reported the actress as saying.
