WWE has Major WrestleMania plans for Roman Reigns: Report

A major main event match for WWE WrestleMania 42 has reportedly been revealed. The long-term plan was discussed in the wake of the shocking betrayal that closed last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

The October 13 edition of Raw went off the air with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman turning on their Vision leader, Seth Rollins. On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that this turn was always part of a larger plan.

That plan was to eventually lead to a marquee match between two former Shield brothers. Meltzer revealed the tentative main event for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

“Seth Rollins was tentatively scheduled to wrestle Roman Reigns at WrestleMania,” Meltzer said. “I don’t know this, but I have been told enough things to where I expected there would be a turn on Seth Rollins at some point.” Meltzer explained that the ultimate purpose of The Vision faction was to elevate Bron Breakker.

There is speculation that the betrayal was moved up due to a legitimate shoulder injury Rollins suffered at Crown Jewel. However, some within WWE are skeptical of the injury’s severity, given a recent storyline involving a fake injury.

A WrestleMania match between Rollins and Reigns would be the culmination of over a decade of shared history, dating back to their debut as part of The Shield and Rollins’ infamous betrayal of the group in 2014.

While WWE may have long-term WrestleMania plans, the immediate concern is the status of the World Heavyweight Championship. With Rollins now written off television, an announcement regarding the vacant title is expected on next week’s Raw, with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and new number one contender CM Punk as the top candidates to compete for it.
