[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened slightly lower on Tuesday (Aug 26), pressured by a rise in longer-dated Treasury bond yields after US President Donald Trump’s decision to fire a Federal Reserve governor renewed concerns about the central bank’s independence.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 45.6 points, or 0.10 per cent, at the open to 45,236.83.

The S&P 500 fell 3.8 points, or 0.06 per cent, at the open to 6,435.49, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.7 points, or 0.03 per cent, to 21,443.631 at the opening bell. REUTERS
