AUSTIN(KXAN) — Texas senior guard Rori Harmon announced Wednesday she will return for her fifth season with the Longhorns basketball program. Harmon will use a medical redshirt season after going down with a season-ending knee injury in December 2023, playing in just 12 games during her junior season.
Harmon said in a social media post that she is pursuing a Master’s degree after graduating in three years, writing “why wouldn’t I want to run it back?”
Harmon averaged 9.3 points, 5.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds and led the team with 84 steals. Harmon was an honorable mention All-American and named to the SEC All-Defensive team.
The Houston product (Cypress Creek High School) was the centerpiece to Vic Schaefer’s first recruiting class in 2022. Harmon burst onto the scene, earning 2nd Team All-Big 12 honors and conference freshman of the year for the 2021-2022 season. Harmon followed that with a First Team All-Big 12 selection and Big 12 defensive player of the year in her sophomore season.
Harmon is the only player in Texas women’s basketball history to score more than 1,200 points (1288) and hand out more than 700 assists (731).
With the return of Harmon alongside first team All-American Madison Booker, the Longhorns will once again be one of the favorites to challenge for a national championship after reaching their first Final Four in 22 years.
