WWE set itself up for fans’ rage long before John Cena’s polarizing final match

The seeds for wrestling fans’ disappointment were sown long before John Cena tapped out to Gunther in his final WWE match Saturday night.

Cena’s entire retirement run was a disappointment to many fans — and there are plenty of easy-to-see reasons for that.

Personally, I was OK with it for the most part, even though there were several things done just not well enough, and I thought Cena’s final match was painful to accept as a fan, but ultimately the right call, especially now that he’s explained the logic behind it.

The decision, however, got Triple H booed out of Capital One Arena and had fans chanting, “You f–ked up” inside the building and even “AEW” at him outside during the post-show in an unprecedented live show of rage toward a booker who was a bit disrespectful to Cena on his final night.
