Rebecca Webb Adapting Jessica Warman’s YA Novel ‘Repeat After Me’ For Amazon MGM; Premeditated Productions To Produce Feature Take

EXCLUSIVE: Premeditated Productions has set up a feature adaptation of Jessica Warman‘s young adult book Repeat After Me at Amazon MGM Studios, enlisting screenwriter Rebecca Webb to adapt.

Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark will produce through Premeditated under the company’s three-year first-look film and TV deal with the studio. Director of development Cayla Tyne is overseeing the project for Premeditated.

Published by Pelletier’s Entangled Publishing in September 2024, Repeat After Me is a comedy following Emma, a high school senior who joins a dream spring break trip, only to be trapped in a time loop that forces her and her classmates to relive the same night on repeat, turning her mission to lose her virginity into a darkly funny, chaotic journey of identity and belonging.

Webb comes to Repeat After Me just ahead of the release of her first produced feature, Kissing is the Easy Part — based on the Wattpad/Webtoon hit — which Tubi is set to unveil on Valentine’s Day. Recently, the scribe adapted Devilina for Atlas Comics and Paramount, as well as Cinnamon & Gunpowder for Riva Marker, with Karen Gillan attached to star. On the TV side, she co-wrote Sacred Lamb with Nick Cuse for New Regency and Paradise List with Blake Lively’s BforEffort.

Currently, Webb is writing a romantic comedy for Working Title, a musical biopic for A24 with Pippa Bianco directing, and a fairytale comedy with Iliza Shlesinger. She is represented by UTA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.

Premeditated Productions launched with its Amazon MGM deal in place in August 2024. Since then, it’s approached the studio to set up a series adaptation of the bestselling romantic fantasy novel Fourth Wing, as well as feature adaptations of Kira Archer’s 69 Million Things I Hate About You and Devney Perry’s Shield of Sparrows. Earlier this year selling Survive, a shark thriller pitch from Ian Levy, to the studio, they’re also currently developing an adaptation of Hannah Nicole Maehrer’s Assistant to the Villain at Legendary Television, among other projects. Premeditated and Entangled are represented by IAG and Caitlin DiMotta at TroyGould PC.
