Kendall Jenner admits she gets “frustrated” with Caitlyn Jenner’s conservative politics: “We just have completely different views in things”

Kris Jenner is pulling out all the stops for The Kardashians Season 7. Not only did she get her only son, Rob Kardashian, to make it first reality TV appearance in nearly a decade in last week’s premiere episode, but she also got her ex-spouse, Caitlyn Jenner, to stop by for a family dinner, despite their estranged relationship.

In The Kardashians Season 7, Episode 2—titled “She Was Such a Hater”—Kris invites Caitlyn over to join the family in bidding farewell to their El Dorado Meadow house, which was where they lived throughout almost all 20 seasons of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Before sitting down for dinner with her family, Kris tells the cameras, “About an hour ago, I called Caitlyn and I said, ‘What are you doing?’ And, of course, she said, ‘I’m eating dinner and watching Fox News.’ I said, ‘Of course you are. Would you like to come say goodbye to El Dorado Meadow with us and be with your kids?’ And she said, ‘I’m on my way.’”

Seeing as Kris and Caitlyn—who share daughters Kendall Jenner, 29, and Kylie Jenner, 28—have not had much of a relationship since their 2015 divorce, it’s a shock to their children when the latter pulls up to the family dinner, also marking her first time back on their reality show since Keeping up with the Kardashians ended in 2021.

“I definitely wasn’t expecting my dad to be here just knowing the relationship that my mom has with my dad. Not that it’s bad, it’s just distant,” Kendall says, referring to her parents’ falling out after Caitlyn dragged Kris in the Vanity Fair article that was published when she came out as trans a decade ago. “I think my mom’s had a hard time inviting my dad to some of our family gatherings in the past, so it makes me happy that Kylie and I didn’t have to ask for my dad to be invited and that my mom just thought it was a good idea regardless.”

While speaking in her confessional, Kendall shares more insight into her relationship with Caitlyn, who, in the scene prior, was telling the family that she wouldn’t evacuate her Malibu home even if wildfires came to the “bottom of the hill.” Kendall also seems to allude to the Olympian’s more recent controversies, which include her public endorsement of President Donald Trump and bans on trans women competing on women’s sports teams.

“I have to compartmentalize my relationship with my dad in a way, because I love her. She’s my dad. We have a good relationship,” Kendall says. “But sometimes I get frustrated with her with certain things because we just have completely different views on things.”

“But other than that, I always want to include her,” Kendall continues. “I know she doesn’t have a lot outside of her family, and I think that she gets lonely. You don’t ever want anyone to be sad, especially your dad and someone you love and care about. At the end of the day, it’s nice having her around.”

Khloé Kardashian, for her part, says it’s “big of” her mom to put the past on pause and invite Caitlyn to celebrate the memories made in their longtime home, while Kim Kardashian reveals that she talks to Caitlyn “all the time,” and even wrote her a nice birthday card, crediting her for making the SKIMs founder who she is today.

New episodes of The Kardashians air every Thursday on Hulu.
